Blue October… Alternative/Rock band from America who were discovered by Kid Rocks manager and have released 7 albums to date with the most recent one being ‘Any Man In America’ last month – which deals with Father’s rights amongst its main focus. However, do not be put off as when listening to the album you would not necessarily gain this prospective… having worked with Tim Palmer helping to produce the album you can begin to see how such tracks as: ‘For The Love’, ‘The Worry List’ and ‘Feel Again/Stay’ (which featured at this years Radio Academy Radio Festival in Salford, Manchester) are so emotive and raw as Tim has worked with the likes of Tears For Fears, Mark Knopfler and James. Not bad so far for a band barely known to radio…

Blue October in certain quarters of the UK are unknown, in the other parts are loved and loathed. Their fans are loyal and the radio stations are unsure uponwhat to make of Blue October… this is largely due to gritty lyrics and not the norm behaviour of such a lead singer such as Justin Furstenfeld… a singer who can come across as an unsteady live wire, foul mouthed, manic and volatile, but is actually passionate and loyal about his music and his band! Which for Justin unfortunately is generally misunderstood in the mechanical wheels of the music industry but the fans get it – which is what means most to Blue October

Eager fans awaiting Blue October entry to gig at o2 Islington.

The other band members who at large remain unknown and seem to like it that way. This maybe due to they are first of all and foremost musicians (very good ones may I add)! and only interested in playing… with Ryan, Jeremy (Justin’s brother), Matt and Julian all contributing to the sound that is like nothing you may of heard before and sure to fall in love with once upon hearing Blue October for the first time it won’t matter if you never perhaps know of them personally or can attach a perception of what the rest of the bands is like as their musicianship resounds volumes!

A band known for touring largely around America and Europe and having just finished their UK tour last week; although brief as only showcased 2 shows this year in the UK. Which were at the o2 Academy in Birmingham and Islington, London. I was fortunate enough to ask the live wire that is Justin a few questions before going on stage in Islington and before the band headed off to Amsterdam for the rest of the European tour they are on. This is what he had as answers for me…
